Dawn McNay recognized with Spirit of Pittsburg award

Community Health Center of Southeast Kansas is pleased to share that Dawn McNay, director of development, was recently recognized with the Spirit of Pittsburg award from the Pittsburg Area Chamber of Commerce.

Every year, the Chamber selects an individual with a history of exceptional community service to be honored with the award.

“It is a great honor to be recognized by my peers,” Dawn says. “I have had the advantage of great women mentors who have demonstrated what service above self looks like. As I have said – Pittsburg is a great community and an easy place to love.”

Dawn served on the Pittsburg USD 250 School Board for 16 years and is currently on the Pittsburg City Commission.

“First and foremost, it is the support of my employer that has allowed me to serve our community through public service,” Dawn says. “I have tried to focus my community service on areas that improve the lives of kids. There are so many great organizations that only work through community volunteers.”

As the director of development, Dawn manages projects and works with teams where she finds satisfaction and value. Dawn joined CHC/SEK as an employee in 2011 but was on the board before.

“I worked at Mt. Carmel with Krista and am proud to say that I was at the table when the discussions began to add a clinic with the establishment of The Family Resource Center,” she says. “Pittsburg is at a great place with our growth, and I am excited to see what the next five years will bring and how the community will continue to help children and families.”
