Baxter Springs therapist attains LSCSW

Jenny Simpson, LSCSW

Jenny Simpson has always been known as the “therapist friend.” Years later, she became a therapist and, most recently, a Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker.

“I find it rewarding to create a safe place for others to feel comfortable sharing their thoughts, feelings and struggles,” she says. “Having the opportunity to assist my patients in making positive changes to live healthier, happier lives is why I chose the behavioral health field.”

Originally from Miami, Oklahoma, Simpson works at the Community Health Center of Southeast Kansas Baxter Springs clinic.

She studied at NEO A&M for her associate degree in psychology and sociology, then at Pittsburg State University for a bachelor’s in social work, and finally, she completed a master’s degree in social work at the University of Oklahoma.

“After completing my undergraduate degree in Pittsburg, I have continued to reside in southeast Kansas and have much respect for the mission and work the agency does for their patients and surrounding communities,” said Simpson. “It has been a goal of mine to become an LSCSW since choosing social work as my career path in 2016. I want to provide quality care for my patients, and an LSCSW is the highest level of licensure you can have as a social worker.”

Simpson provides therapeutic services at the CHC/SEK – Baxter Springs clinic, located at 2990 Military Ave. in Baxter Springs, for people aged six and older. She specializes in cognitive behavioral therapy techniques which can assist in treating various diagnoses such as anxiety, depression, anger management, phobias and eating disorders. The clinic’s hours are 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday and Friday, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.
